The city of Ludhiana in Punjab is home to some of the best attractions to explore. With a deep cultural and historic roots, dating back to the Lodi and Mughal dynasties and even the British, Ludhiana’s wonders are worth exploring. If you’re coming from the national capital you can either take a Delhi to Ludhiana taxi or a bus to reach the destination. Let’s check out some of the amazing attractions in the city of Ludhiana.

1. Lodhi Fort — The Lodhi Fort was constructed on the banks of the Sutlej river, during the reign of Muslim ruler Sikandar Lodhi about 500 years ago. After successfully ruling the city for centuries the fortification fell under the British control in 1809. The fortress was at one time a grand residence of the royal family of the emperor, displaying his military force. Nonetheless, lacking proper maintenance and restoration the fortress remains in vestiges and has severely endured by weather.

2. Punjab Agricultural University Museum — Also called as Ajaib Ghar, the Punjab Agricultural University Museum is a must visit if you like exploring various cultures and histories of places. Revealing some interesting facts about the general population’s life in Ludhiana during the eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries, the museum is also a celebrated stage of the annual Kisan Mela. This historical center houses different rural and farm cultivating instruments and a few different antiques from the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

3. Gurudwara Charan Kamal — This Sikh place of worship denotes the place where Guru Gobind Singh took a taste of the influenced water from the lake and fell asleep and was later joined by a couple of pupils. The gurudwara structure is a splendid specimen of Sikh engineering. The best time to visit the Gurudwara is during December when the yearly fair is held to praise the construction of this shrine.

4. Phillaur Fort — During the rule of Sher Shah Suri, a Sarai (motel) was built at Phillaur close to Ludhiana which was later turned into a military fortress and a mail station during the rule of Shah Jahan. The fortress was later occupied by the British as a part of their military cantonment. The fortress now houses a police training institute and a unique fingerprint agency.

5. Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum — One of the fantastic places to visit in Ludhiana, the museum is situated at the iconic GT Road and is named after the king of Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh whose statue shows him sitting on a throne is situated right at the entry of the museum. This historical center has about 12 exhibition halls altogether with segments such as antiquated history and post independence.
